USA Baseball reports that Matt LaPorta, a U.S. outfielder who was hit by a pitch during Monday’s game with China, ‘underwent a CAT scan, suffered a mild concussion and will be assessed daily.’
The brief release attributed the update to U.S. Olympic Team Chief Medical Officer Dr. William Kuprevich.
LaPorta, who played for the University of Florida, was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2007 and traded to Cleveland, where he is playing AA ball for the Indians.
The U.S. won the game against China, 9-1.
