Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca, a Republican, has endorsed businesswoman Laurette Healey, one of several Democrats running for a newly drawn Assembly seat.
Healey is running for the open 46th District seat in the San Fernando Valley.
Baca, like some other office-holders, has been known to endorse more than one candidate in a race. For example, he supported both then-state Sen. Mark Ridley-Thomas and Los Angeles Councilman Bernard Parks in their 2008 battle for a seat on the county Board of Supervisors.
But Healey is the only one with his backing in this contest, a Baca spokesman said last week. So far, at least.
