Conservative Oceanside businessman Dan Hughes has joined the field of largely unknown Republican candidates challenging Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s reelection bid this year.
Hughes said he raised most of the $100,000 cash on hand for his challenge in less than 30 days from ‘friends and neighbors eager to endorse’ his candidacy.
Among others wanting to take on Feinstein is Elizabeth Emken of Danville, an advocate for children with autism, and telecommunications professional Al Ramirez of Santa Monica. Last week, Emken announced endorsements from GOP Assemblymen Jim Silva of Huntington Beach and Don Wagner of Irvine.
Feinstein last week reported having almost $6.6 million in the bank for her reelection campaign.
