Doctor Who: The long-running sci-fi series puts its own spin on Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” (6 and 9 p.m. BBC America) and celebrates itself in the new special “Doctor Who at the Proms” (10 a.m. BBC America).
Community: The college-themed sitcom reprises its stop-motion-animated holiday episode (8 p.m. NBC).
Elvira’s Movie Macabre: The hostess with the mostest takes on the 1964 holiday stinker “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” (midnight KDOC).
SPECIALS
Yule Log: Local stations offer images of a roaring hearth accompanied by seasonal music (4:30 a.m. KTLA, 6 a.m. KCAL).
Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade: Ryan Seacrest, Nick Cannon and Maria Menounos host, with musical guests including Mariah Carey and Selena Gomez (9 a.m. ABC).
Salute to American Skating: Some of figure skating’s finest perform in Atlantic City, N.J. (1 p.m. NBC).
Nutcracker on Ice: Figure skating’s Oksana Baiul and Viktor Petrenko are featured in this frosty take on Tchaikovsky’s musical fable (8 p.m. KCAL).
MOVIES
Tooth Fairy: Dwayne Johnson takes the job in this 2010 fantasy comedy (8 p.m. HBO).
Nine: Daniel Day-Lewis, Sophia Loren, Judi Dench, Nicole Kidman, Penélope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Kate Hudson and Fergie star in this 2009 film adapation of the Broadway musical (9 p.m. Showtime).
SPORTS
Basketball: The Bulls battle the Knicks (9 a.m. ESPN); the Celtics meet the Magic (11:30 a.m. ABC); the Lakers host the Heat (2 p.m. ABC); the Nuggets face the Thunder (5 p.m. ESPN); and the Trail Blazers take on the Warriors (7:30 p.m. ESPN).
