The Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw hadn’t allowed a hit through 3 1/3 innings until the Angels’ Torii Hunter smacked a home run into the left-field corner at Angel Stadium, just over the wall and out of right-fielder Reed Johnson’s reach.
The Angels then got consecutive hits from Hideki Matsui (single) and Kendry Morales (double) before Juan Rivera hit a sacrifice fly to tie the score, 2-2.
It’s likely the last inning for Kershaw. Dodgers Manager Joe Torre said before the game he’d likely pitch only four innings, or between 50 and 60 pitches. He has thrown 65.
