After leading his team to a 27-game turnaround this season, Oklahoma City Thunder Coach Scott Brooks has been named the NBA’s coach of the year.

With the youngest roster in the league, the Thunder went 50-32 and earned the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference playoffs. Oklahoma City trails the Lakers, 2-0, in its first-round playoff series, which continues Thursday night.

The Thunder’s roster features primarily the same names as last year, with the addition of rookies James Harden, Serge Ibaka and Eric Maynor. Third-year player Kevin Durant has emerged as a true superstar this season, becoming the youngest player ever to win the league scoring title.

Brooks is in his first full year as the Thunder’s head coach after taking over as interim coach in November 2008.
