Top-seeded UCLA won its sixth title at the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championship on Friday in Gainesville, Fla.
With five-time reigning champion Georgia not in the competition, UCLA returned to where it had been before the Gym Dogs put a stranglehold on the NCAA women’s competition.
The Bruins (197.725) won the title for the first time since 2004, bookending the Gym Dogs’ five-year run. Georgia failed to qualify out of the regional stage.
‘It is everything that I had envisioned from preseason to now,’ UCLA senior Anna Li said. ‘I had seen it so clearly, and now that I’m standing here, I can’t believe it.’
Oklahoma (197.25) finished second, followed by Alabama (197.225), Stanford (197.1), Florida (197) and Utah (196.225).
