Ducks announce roster for their opener Friday at Detroit

The Ducks have announced their season-opening roster. They placed forwards Joffrey Lupul (blood infection) and Jason Jaffray (knee) on the injured reserve list and designated defenseman Toni Lydman (double vision) as an injured non-roster player.
A club spokesman said Lydman accompanied the team on its trip to Detroit, Nashville and St. Louis so he might be getting closer to being able to play.

If Fowler plays Friday, he will be the third-youngest player ever to appear in a game for the Ducks. Fowler, born on Dec. 5, 1991, will be 18 years, 10 months and three days old Friday. Here are their youngest players, courtesy of the Ducks:
