Never did the kid swipe away the headlines, not with the likes of Dayne Crist and Nick Crissman chucking passes in the Southland. Never did he snag the spotlight.
He may in college.
Santa Monica’s quarterback, Ryan Katz, signed with the Oregon State Beavers. And Katz has the tools to transform from a solid prep QB into a superb college one: quick feet, passing accuracy and size at 6-feet-2 and 200 pounds.
Before the 2007 season, GoldenStatePreps.com ranked Katz as the No. 7 QB in the state. At season’s end, he arguably could’ve been a top-5 guy after throwing for 1,860 yards and 20 TDs and running for 477 yards.
