There’s an ancient baseball axiom: ‘The art of pitching is intimidation.’ You can add those words to the biography of Bob Gibson. Or Nolan Ryan. Or Don Drysdale.
Or Aaron Hicks -- the hitting-pitching sensation for the Long Beach Wilson Bruins.
Here’s the thing about Hicks. He intimidates on the mound and at the dish. He can fire 93-mph rockets and hit 400-foot bombs. Through three games, his ERA is nil and he’s struck out five batters in four innings. He’s hitting .500 with six RBIs and a homer.
So, you can see the kid’s an all-around intimidator. In fact, his whole team is -- the Bruins (2-1) are ranked No. 2 in the nation by Rivals.com.
P.S. Hey, Editor Bob, I gave ‘Big D’ some props just for you.
