Top-seeded Long Beach Poly has a 27-19 halftime lead over second-seeded Corona Santiago in the Southern Section Division 1AA championship at Cal State Long Beach.
Long Beach Poly opened the first quarter on a 6-0 run and closed it with a 14-8 lead.
Olivia Montgomery has six points and Ariya Crook-Williams and Ta’nitra Byrd have added five points apiece for Long Beach Poly (27-2).
Jasmine Lister leads Corona Santiago (29-2) with six points.
Corona Santiago shot 25.9% from the field, and Long Beach Poly shot 24.2%.
In order for the Sharks to take the lead, they need to start hitting their free throws. They are 5 for 13.
