Amie Callaway hit a six-footer with five seconds left in the game to lift San Diego to a 43-42 victory over Troy in the first round of the Southern California Regional Division I playoffs on Tuesday at San Diego High.
San Diego had the ball with Troy up, 42-41, and 11 seconds left in the game. The Warriors managed to deflect the ball, and both teams scrambled for possession. The Cavers gained it, and Callaway fired the game-winning basket.
“It was a defensive battle,” said Troy Coach Roger Anderson.
Tia Dixon scored 18 for San Diego and Alex Sanchez had 22 for Troy.
