Basketball players sweep Gatorade award

Kentucky-bound point guard Brandon Knight from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Stanford-bound forward Chiney Ogwumike from Cypress, Texas, have been selected the male and female winners of the Gatorade Athlete of the Year awards.

The announcement was made Wednesday during a luncheon at LA Live. Malcolm Jones, the Gatorade national player of the year in football from Westlake Village Oaks Christian, was a candidate for male Athlete of the Year.
