Eight persons, including six children, were killed in two separate house fires that occurred within hours of each other in northeastern New Jersey.
A 45-year-old woman, her two grandchildren and a 26-year-old man were killed when a fire broke out Saturday at a duplex in Newark. A preliminary investigation showed that a faulty heater caused the fire.
Four children, ranging in age from 6 months to 7 years, were killed and a 4-year-old boy was critically burned in a fire Saturday night that broke out in a home in Long Branch.
