Red Sox Reportedly Have Signed Kison

BOSTON — The Boston Red Sox, looking for leadership as well as pitching help, were set today to announce the signing of former Angel right-hander Bruce Kison as a free agent.
According to sources close to the club and Kison, an agreement was reached a couple of weeks ago, but a formal announcement has been delayed until the Red Sox made a spot for him on the 40-man roster.
Kison, 35, reportedly has a guaranteed contract for one year with options after that. The contract is based mainly on incentives.
Kison reportedly turned down an offer of more money from the New York Yankees in order to rejoin John McNamara, Boston’s new manager who managed Kison with the Angels.
