Peter Chernin has been promoted to executive vice president of programming for the New York-based pay-TV company Showtime/The Movie Channel Inc.
In his new position, Chernin, who will remain at the firm’s Westwood offices, will have responsibility for development and execution of all original programming projects, film acquisition, scheduling and planning.
Chernin was previously senior vice president in charge of original programming. The executive vice president’s position had remained vacant since January, 1984.
