Prep Basketball GIRLS : Newbury Park 60, Simi Valley 56

The last time Simi Valley and Newbury Park met in a girls basketball game, Simi won, 49-42, to capture fifth place in the Simi Valley Tournament and Newbury Park forward Diane Jarvis did not score a single point. That was in December.
Wednesday night at Simi, Jarvis scored 17 points to lead the Panthers to a 60-56 Marmonte League victory.
Newbury Park Coach Nori Parvin said, “Diane was definitely the key for us tonight. She played an excellent game and really came through with some key baskets when we needed them.”
Vanessa Hornbuckle also scored 17 and Katey Potts added 11 and nine rebounds for the Panthers, who lifted their record to 4-1 in league and 12-4 overall.
Simi Valley, which fell to 4-1 in league and 12-4 overall, was paced by sophomore forward Julie Arlotto who scored a game-high 18 points and also grabbed 11 rebounds. Teammate Rachel Wilson contributed 10 points and five assists.
