Irwin L. Jacobs postponed buying more C&C; stock.

The Minneapolis investor has agreed not to purchase any more stock in Castle & Cooke Inc. until after March 31, the company said. The announcement came after a scheduled hearing in U.S. District Court in Honolulu was abruptly canceled. Jacobs announced Jan. 17 that he had purchased 12.1% of C&C;’s stock. Just before the court hearing was to begin, an attorney for Castle & Cooke told reporters that both sides had agreed to “step back.” The agreement between the two sides was announced about one hour later.
