Yale Blue-Collar Union Approves 3-Year Pact

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Yale University’s blue-collar union has voted overwhelmingly in favor of a new three-year contract, ending the threat of a renewed strike by 3,600 workers.
The vote by members of Local 34 of the Federation of University Employees was taken Monday night, two days after a tentative settlement was reached. The pact calls for “moderate” wage hikes, job protection and the same dental and pension plans as white-collar employees, the union said.
