Lt. Gov. Leo McCarthy said he has all but eliminated himself as a candidate for governor or the U.S. Senate in 1986. Interviewed during a series of stops in the San Fernando Valley, McCarthy estimated that there is only a “2% chance” that he will scrap his plans to run for reelection in favor of seeking another political office.
