Two dozen Chileans, including prize-winning novelist and playwright Jose Donoso, were briefly arrested on the island of Chiloe, 750 miles south of Santiago, when they gathered to support dissidents fired from teaching jobs, police said. All were charged with holding an anti-government demonstration, which is forbidden under the Chilean state of siege declared in November by President Augusto Pinochet.
