A 22-month-old La Mesa boy, who was strapped into an infant car seat, was killed Saturday morning when a truck backed into the car his mother was driving. Robert Joseph Manning died shortly after the truck, which was leaving a scrap metal yard on Santa Fe Drive, struck his mother’s southbound car and bashed in a door at 10:15 a.m. A police spokesman said no one else was injured.
