Arafat, Kadafi Invited to Celebration

PARAMARIBO, Surinam — Yasser Arafat, leader of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, and Libyan leader, Moammar Kadafi have been invited to attend ceremonies next month marking the fifth anniversary of Surinam’s revolution, a government official said last week.
Reports have said that other official guests may include Nicaragua’s leftist resident, Daniel Ortega.
The Surinam government would only confirm the Arafat and Kadafi invitations.
The former Dutch colony, located on the northeast coast of South America, has been led by Lt. Col. Desie Bouterse since he seized power from a corrupt civilian government on Feb. 25, 1980.
