ACTORS UNIONS TO SEEK STRIKE OK

The national boards of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists have voted unanimously to mail their members a strike referendum on a new contract covering radio and TV commercials.
The action requests that the joint boards be authorized to order a work stoppage on commercials in the event that a satisfactory contract cannot be reached with the major TV and radio advertisers and advertising agencies.
Union officials said they expect the request to be approved overwhelmingly.
