Police Get Bonus in Burglary Bust

Under other circumstances, Francis Schultz, 19, of Culver City might have been delighted that local police nabbed a suspected burglar leaving his house Thursday.
Problem was, the intruder was caught with about a pound of marijuana as well as $480 in cash.
And Officer Ray Scheu and Sgt. Ellis Smith had been staking out Schultz’s house in the first place because they suspected it to be a center of drug trafficking.
First things first, though. The policemen arrested Leo Rodriguez, 19, on suspicion of burglary. Rodriguez allegedly had entered a window by using a 14-inch screwdriver.
Then they knocked on Schultz’s door and discovered that he apparently had slept through the alleged burglary. After receiving his consent to enter, they found “additional marijuana” and “evidence of sales,” they said.
Schultz was arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale.
