Trafton Leads Arizona Past USD Again, 14-4

TUCSON — Todd Trafton hit his third home run of the year and drove in three runs to lead Arizona to a 14-4 nonconference college baseball victory over the University of San Diego on Friday.
Jeff Hird (2-0) pitched six innings for the win, giving up two runs on five hits and striking out three. Tom Seyler (1-1) gave up 10 runs, 6 of which were earned, on 11 hits and 4 walks in the loss.
Trafton and Chip Hale each had four hits for Arizona. Mark Trafton led San Diego with a double and two singles, and Sean Baron hit a two-run homer in the ninth off Arizona reliever Derek Huenneke.
Arizona (9-1) and San Diego (1-2) play again here Saturday. Arizona won Thursday’s opener of the three-game series, 26-0.
