Post Cards Lambasted

Regarding Tom Greeley’s Feb. 9 article on San Diego County Sheriff John Duffy’s policy to distribute post cards to the public from sheriff’s substations with the rationale that it is an “educational” rather than political act:
I would prefer that the sheriff and his deputies focus on providing better public safety, which is their assigned responsibility instead of spending their time and efforts in passing out post cards against someone with whom they may not agree politically.
It is also intresting to note that Chief Justice Rose Bird has been quite vociferous against organized crime in California in the past and that there have been repeated allegations linking Sheriff Duffy to underworld figures.
