A small fire described as suspicious in origin caused the temporary evacuation of about 600 guests from the Bayview Plaza Holiday Inn in Santa Monica, authorities said, and the fire may be related to two other incidents that took place at about the same time. In one, a bomb threat was telephoned to a hotel desk clerk as guests were being evacuated, Santa Monica Police Sgt. W. Harry Kutzbach said. In the other, two Molotov cocktails, which did not ignite, were thrown at a nearby patrolman as he was setting up street barricades.
