PEKING — American sprint star Carl Lewis, who won four gold medals at the L.A. Olympics, was the leading vote winner in a Chinese poll to choose the world’s top 10 athletes for 1984, the official Xinhua news agency reported Sunday.
Finishing second in the survey of some 400,000 voters--both inside and outside of China--was West German swimmer Michael Gross, who won two gold medals and a silver in freestyle and butterfly events at the Olympics, Xinhua said.
