The Soviet Union has bought an additional 193,000 metric tons of corn--about 7.7 million bushels--for delivery through Sept. 30, the Agriculture Department said. Agriculture Secretary John R. Block said the latest purchase raised U.S. wheat and corn sales to the Soviet Union to a record level. Officials said the latest sale was reported to the department by private exporters, as required by law. No prices or other details were disclosed in the announcement.
