San Juan Capistrano : Pro Rodeo to Benefit Lions Club Charities

About 150 professional cowboys are expected to compete at the Ortega Equestrian Center in the city’s first two-day rodeo sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Assn.
The Capistrano Lions Club is sponsoring the competition to raise money for its charities, scholarships and youth recreation services.
The organizer, Flying U Rodeo Co., has scheduled shows for 3 p.m. March 23 and 2 p.m. March 24. Cowboys will compete for $5,500 in prize money in calf roping, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, steer wrestling, team roping and barrel racing events.
Grandstands to seat 3,000 spectators will be built at the Equestrian Center for the event. Prices for tax-deductible tickets are $7 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12.
