Girls Southern Section Basketball : Undefeated Compton Is Seeded First in Playoffs

Undefeated Compton, the Southern Section’s No. 1-ranked 4-A Division basketball team and the seventh-rated team in the nation according to USA Today, is top seeded in playoff pairings announced Monday.
Buena, the two-time defending 4-A champion and winner of two straight State Division I titles, is seeded second, followed by Muir and Culver City. Buena’s only loss this season came in its season opener to Santa Clara, the No. 1- seeded team in the 1-A Division
Undefeated Brea-Olinda is No. 1-seeded in the 3-A Division. Palmdale is the No. 2-seeded team, Foothill is No. 3 and Riverside Poly is No. 4.
In the 2-A Division, La Quinta is top-seeded, followed by San Luis Obispo, Chino and Cajon.
Seeded behind Santa Clara in the 1-A are Marshall Fundamental (No. 2), Paraclete (No. 3) and Connelly (No. 4).
Flintridge Sacred Heart, Boron, Yucca Valley and Maricopa are the top-seeded teams in the Small Schools Division.
First-round play is scheduled to begin Saturday. The 4-A, 3-A and 2-A finals are at the Long Beach Arena March 8. The 1-A and Small School finals are scheduled at neutral sites, also on March 8.
