MasterCard will test a new credit card.

MasterCard International said it will begin testing in south Florida about 50,000 credit cards containing integrated-circuit chips, which have the memory capacity of a small computer and provide greater security for card holders. The size and thickness of a standard credit card, the chip card can store more data than is contained in 1,500 words, 30 times more storage capacity than today’s standard magnetic-tape cards, MasterCard said.
