UCLA Defeats Washington in First Round of Regional

SEATTLE — Anne Dean scored 18 points and Angel Hardy added 16 Friday night to lead UCLA to a 78-62 won over Washington in the first round of the NCAA West women’s basketball regional.
The Bruins (20-10) broke the 12th-ranked Huskies’ winning streak at 21 games, longest in the nation. The Huskies (26-2) were led by senior guard Leteia Hughley with 20 points.
The Bruins won their seventh straight game to advance to the regional playoffs, which begin Thursday on their home court at Pauley Pavilion. They will play the winner of today’s game between Georgia and Tennessee Tech.o
Also scoring in double figures for UCLA were Jackie Joyner with 13 points and 12 rebounds and Annette Keur with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bruins held a 55-31 rebounding edge.
