GOP Official Joins White House Staff

WASHINGTON — William Lacey, political director of the Republican National Committee, will become deputy assistant to the President for political affairs, GOP and White House sources said Tuesday.
Lacey, 31, would report to Ed Rollins, who served as President Reagan’s campaign manager last year. Rollins reportedly is in line for a higher post either on the White House staff or in the Cabinet. Sources said Lacey would become political chief at the White House if Rollins is promoted.
