Fullerton : Airport Improvements Win Council’s Approval

Fullerton Airport will get a face lift as the result of City Council approval Tuesday of a five-year capital improvements package that earmarks $2.6 million for the city-owned airport.
A four-acre expansion, fresh pavement and a new parking lot are the major improvements proposed for the airport for the 1985-86 fiscal year, said Jaclyn Lewis, the city’s budget manager. The Federal Aviation Administration will pick up 90% of the $2.41-million tab for the purchase of four acres of land east of the airport. The FAA also will finance the majority of a $214,000 pavement project, Lewis said.
Other items included in the $10.4-million package for the first year include $800,000 in improvements to Duane Winters Field, formerly known as Amerige Park, and $230,000 to upgrade the city’s fire emergency radio system.
In all, the council approved $41 million in city projects and $13,637,000 in redevelopment projects for the next five years, Lewis said.
