The City Council, which is renewing the city’s cable franchise, asked the city attorney to begin preparing an ordinance and to find out what residents want in the new cable system.
In an attempt to make better use of the system that already exists, the council also decided to look into purchasing a “character generator” to broadcast messages and public notices over cable. As part of the budget discussions next month, the council will evaluate whether to begin broadcasting City Council meetings, and other public meetings, over cable.
