An auto body shop employee borrowed a Corvette brought in for a paint job, drove it at speeds up to 100 m.p.h., crashed and was seriously injured, Long Beach police said. Albert J. Defelice, 28, suffered critical injuries and was admitted to the intensive care unit at St. Mary Medical Center. The car had been taken the car to Anthony West auto body shop on Anaheim Street for a paint job. An investigation is continuing and charges are pending against Defelice, police said.
