Cal State Northridge’s doubles team of Pierre Mareschal and Ed Charles lost to the team of Bryan Bass and Rob Zoller of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6, Friday in the NCAA Division II tennis tournament quarterfinals.
After dropping the first set, Mareschal and Edwards came back in the second set and nearly pulled off the victory in the third. Bass and Zoller fought back, however, to win the match by dropping the CSUN team, 7-5, in a third-set tiebreaker.
Mareschal and Charles had advanced by beating John Kleine and Chris Dundas, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 in the round of 16.
The tournament concludes Sunday at the CSUN Racquet Sports Complex.
The singles championships begin at noon and the doubles at 2 p.m.
