A 10-year-old girl playing in the yard of a South-Central Los Angeles apartment building was killed when a suspected drunken driver backed his car into her, pinning her against a wall, police said. Witnesses reportedly told officers that Howard Riley, 54, backed his car north on Main Street about 40 m.p.h. and into the apartment house driveway at 100 E. 103rd St., running into Diedra McDonald. He was booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter.
