Katherine Bleifer, who resigned earlier as editor-in-chief of the UCLA Daily Bruin after a staff revolt, has been appointed to a seat on the Communications Board, publisher of the student-run newspaper.
Bleifer, 23-year-old senior history major, said her main goal in serving on the 13-member board will be to develop more support for the special-interest newspapers on campus serving, among other groups, blacks, Latinos, Asians and gays.
“I do not intend to conduct any vendetta against the Daily Bruin,” she said.
Bleifer resigned as editor last December after members of the newspaper’s editorial board threatened to quit en masse if she were not fired by the Communications Board.
