WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. — NASCAR point leader Bill Elliott will make his first appearance in the IMSA Camel GT series July 6 at the Watkins Glen internatinal race circuit.
Elliott, who goes for a grand slam double at Daytona in the Firecracker 400 on July 4 after winning the Daytona 500 last February, teams with woman driver Lyn St. James in a Roush Ford Mustang for the Glen’s production GTO class race.
Elliott’s earnings reached $619,168 this season in a streak featuring seven superspeedway victories, including Daytona, Talladega and Pocono.
The Camel continental will conclude with a three-hour prototype race on Sunday, July 7.
The Roush team has won six of nine events. St. James finished third in last year’s New York GT here and has led Camel GT races at Laguna Seca and Charlotte this year.
