SAN FRANCISCO — Salinas lettuce grower Robert V. Antle has filed suit against Castle & Cooke Inc. in an effort to halt next week’s shareholder vote on the firm’s merger with Flexi-Van Corp.
Antle alleged that Castle & Cooke’s proposal to have both shareholders of common stock and preferred stock voting as a single group violates state law in Hawaii, where the company is incorporated.
Antle’s family owns 44.6% of the firm’s series A preferred stock.
