National League Sets Attendance Record

NEW YORK — The National League set an attendance record last week by drawing 1,231,755 fans over 41 games from June 17-23, the league announced Tuesday.
The previous record, established August 9-15, of last season was 1,208,164.
Last week’s attendance figures included 172,092 for a four-game series between the Chicago Cubs and Mets at New York. For three games at St. Louis, the Cubs and Cardinals drew 141,117.
The largest single-game crowd of the week was 53,371 at San Diego Saturday afternoon for a game between the Padres and San Francisco Giants.
Not including Tuesday’s games, total attendance for the National League in 1985 is 9,494,695, an average of 23,977 per game.
