Whittaker Corp., a diversified Los Angeles-based company, said it had acquired the lysate product line of Mallinckrodt Inc., a St. Louis subsidiary of Avon Products. Lysate is a derivative used in medical products for the detection of some fever-producing substances. The Mallinckrodt product line is sold primarily to makers of medical devices and drugs. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Berkeley-based Andros Analyzers said it has signed its largest sales contract ever, a two-year agreement for Bear Automotive Service Equipment Co. to purchase $6 million worth of Andros’ electro-optical benches.
MacNeal-Schwendler Corp. of Los Angeles said it signed a joint venture agreement with Synergistic Technology Inc. of Cupertino, Calif., to develop and market STI’s proprietary vibration measurement and analysis system.
