Bazaar in Warsaw Targeted by Police

WARSAW — More than 100 plainclothes and uniformed police Wednesday raided Warsaw’s Rozycki bazaar, renowned for its thieves and black-marketeers, witnesses said.
The bazaar was sealed off for over two hours and several people were seen detained in a police van. Buses with riot shields and helmets were parked nearby.
A police spokesman said he had no immediate information on the raid but added that the market was “a hotbed of various criminal elements.”
Last week, two men were caught in the bazaar with nearly 4,000 watches and more than 3,500 batteries smuggled from Austria, Polish television reported.
