Byrne to Run Again in Chicago

CHICAGO — Jane Byrne, denied reelection after one term as mayor two years ago, said today that she is running again for the post. Byrne said she will challenge Democratic Mayor Harold Washington, the first black ever to head the city, in the 1987 election. “For two years I’ve sat and watched our city slowly become paralyzed,” Democrat Byrne said in a television commercial announcing her decision.
