Briton Sets 1,500-Meter Record

NICE, France — Britain’s Steve Cram broke the world record in the 1,500 meters by running the distance in 3 minutes, 29.67 seconds, today. The old record was 3:30.77 set by Steve Ovett of Britain on Sept. 4, 1983, in Rieti, Italy.
