The San Diego City Council will meet in closed sessions Thursday and Friday to interview candidates for the city manager’s position, the top administrative post in city government. Mayor Roger Hedgecock told council members Tuesday they will be interviewing an undisclosed number of candidates during confidential sessions at the Naval Ocean Systems Laboratory in Point Loma. Hedgecock said names of the potential successors to Ray Blair will be kept secret because they “hold responsible similar positions in other cities and they requested confidentiality.” Hedgecock said the council may settle on a new city manager as early as Friday.
