A proposal to require future development on Sepulveda Boulevard to be set back to allow for an additional traffic lane was unanimously endorsed in concept by the City Council.
The proposal, introduced by Councilman Russ Lesser, also would ban parking along southbound Sepulveda between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. Parking currently is banned from 4:15 to 6:15 p.m..
Property owners would not have to pay for building a new traffic lane but would have to dedicate the land to the city. Lesser proposed paying for the road with city or state money.
The City Council will seek opinions from the Planning Commission and the public before granting final approval to the proposal.
